Understanding GATE Score vs Marks
Many students get confused between GATE Marks and GATE Score. GATE Marks are the raw marks you get out of 100 based on the answer key. GATE Score is a normalized value (usually out of 1000) that accounts for paper difficulty and candidate performance across different sessions.
The Official Formula
Score = Sq + (St - Sq) * [(M - Mq) / (Mt - Mq)]
- M: Marks obtained by you.
- Mq: Qualifying marks for your category.
- Mt: Average marks of the top 0.1% or top 10 candidates.
- Sq: Fixed at 350.
- St: Fixed at 900.
